Green Corps Activities

Green Corps Activities give people the chance to get six months paid work experience and training on environmental and cultural heritage projects. We have been delivering Green Corps in Queensland and New South Wales since 2002, helping over 1500 people on their pathway to employment.

Participants learn worthwhile work and life skills through Green Corps with the support of JOB futures SEQ, including help with a disability, or literacy and language difficulties.

A Green Corps placement might be with a team on a group activity with other job seekers, or an individual placement with a host organization.  Host organizations can be not-for-profit organizations such as local community groups, charities or local, state, territory, or Australian Government organizations and agencies.

Examples of past JOB futures SEQ activities include:

  • Construction boardwalks in World Heritage listed wetlands of Moreton Bay
  • Preserving and conserving sites of cultural significance at Tenterfield and Grafton
  • Revegetating rainforest areas adjoining Border Ranges National Park
  • Constructing breeding enclosures for endangered species at Fleays Wildlife Park
  • Collecting seeds and propagating plants for community landcare activities
  • Stabilising the foreshores of Townsville and Northern Queensland
  • Constructing bird hides and interpretive walking trails at Ross River Dam
  • Working with the community to undertake environmental monitoring of threatened ecosystems

Working on a Green Corps project will create job opportunities because your experience will be current and real.

When you have worked on a Green Corps project employers benefit from your on the job training and experience and are confident that this is what you want to do.
